Powerful disc and belt sander for all home workshops. This new superior model has a bigger motor than any of its predecessors.

The motor is housed inside the base, well away from any dust, and a strong V-belt is used to drive the sanding belt and disc. Having the sanding disc mounted on this secondary driven shaft allows the rotation speed to be slowed down to the correct speed for sanding as opposed to machines where the disc is driven directly from the motor.

The 6" diameter sanding disc has a large work table with a T-slot for the mitre guide. Another improvement over the traditional sander is that the work table is hinged at both ends giving a much more rigid mounting. The mitre guide can be adjusted from the 90 degree position by 60 degrees left or right. The table tilts from 90 to 45 degrees and can be locked at any angle.

The sanding belt can be used in both the horizontal position with the back stop in place, or in the vertical position moving the work table from the disc to the belt. The open end of the belt can also be used for sanding, with the round drum allowing shapes and curves to be sanded. The sanding belt is fitted with a quick release belt tensioning system and an easily adjusted tracking control.

Dust control has been carefully thought out with integral collector hoods fitted to both disc and belt functions, extracted via a single outlet at the back of the machine. 50mm diameter hose will fit straight onto the outlet, our optional converter can be used to adapt it to 100mm diameter hose.

A handy cable tidy completes the equipment.

Supplied with NVR switch, mitre guide with a scale 60 degrees each way, 50mm dust extraction outlet, use optional W408DK to connect to a 100mm hose, fixing clamps for securing to a bench, rubber feet, cable and plug.

Connector to convert the 50mm dust outlet to a 100mm diameter.

The kit consists of a 100mm to 50mm reducer plus a short length of hose. You can make it a more permanent fitting by adding a couple of 50HC hose clamps but it will be a fairly tight fit without them.

A new modern style design has been achieved with our latest disc and belt sander. This combination sander has big capacities and plenty of power to perform a variety of workshop tasks.

The base houses a 1hp induction motor, which is connected via a strong V-belt to the drive shaft where the sanding disc is mounted. This design allows the speed of the disc to be restricted to 1800rpm which is ideal for sanding. A cast iron work table, fitted with a T-slot mitre guide, ensure accurate sanding of end grain and angled pieces. The sturdy table is hinged at both ends and can be lowered to any angle up to 45 degrees for sanding bevelled pieces.

The sanding belt can be use either horizontally or vertically. when using the belt in the upright position the work table can be moved from in front of the disc and refitted to the belt. Working in this manner gives a slightly bigger capacity of 150mm (6") for end grains.

As with any dust producing machinery, dust extraction should be carefully considered and we always recommend an extractor is used. For anybody not using a separate extractor the W409 has an integral powered fan which draws air from both the belt and the disc collector hoods, and expels it from the outlet. We include a cloth bag fitted with a quick action clamp to collect the dust.

A handy cable tidy completes the design for those times when you need to move the machine off the bench.
