This new heavyweight bandsaw has features, capacities and performance that previously were just not available at this price point and it aims to be the ultimate machine for the serious woodworking enthusiast. Capable of serious work, the maximum cutting height is over 10� and the machine can take up to a 1" blade, powered by a 2HP motor for deep ripping.

The table is a large, heavy casting for stability and longevity and the rip fence is a heavy extrusion mounted on a cast iron mount and rigid steel bar. This table is mounted on a rigid cast double trunnion fitted with a rack and pinion to make tilting a simple and accurate one handed job.

The toolpost for the upper blade guides is made from steel and movement is also adjusted on a rack and pinion. The blade guides are large and easy to adjust and the whole machine has a solid, robust feel to it.

The bandwheels are cast iron to provide a flywheel effect that aids cutting performance. The wheels are dynamically balanced and fitted with thick rubber tyres that are precision gorund with a camber to aid tracking. The tensioning system has been designed to apply upover 20,000 psi and can adequately tension evena 1" blade for serious ripping.

There is an optional jockey bar wheelkit (shown for illustrative purposes) which is recommended if this machine is to require re-positioning in the workshop as the machine weighs in at over 160kg.

This simple but effective wheelkit is essential if you will need to reposition the BS500 in your workshop. Wheels are added to one end of the baseplate and a bracket is added to the other keeping the machine level and stable. This can then be levered onto a wheeled jockey bar to tilt the machine a few degrees and enable it to be moved on the wheels.
