This is the largest of the Jet open-ended drum sanders and has, when used from both sides, an incredible 1,120mm of capacity with an 100mm capacity under the abrasive drum. The drum is specially balanced to reduce vibration to a minimum and has adjustments so that the drum and sander table can be set perfectly parallel to each other. The oscillating action guarantees a smooth surface and prolongs the life of the sanding belts. The variable speed feed motor drives the timber through from 3m/min down to virtual stop so that a good finish can be obtained even on the most difficult pieces of grained timber. A major feature is the 'Sand Smart' technology, which gives an automatic reduction of the feed rate to avoid excessive material removal on uneven timbers. Changing the abrasive loading is quick and easy with a self tensioning clip device incorporated into the roller. For longer lengths of material a set of feed tables is available as an optional accessory. This sander represents a major advance in design which translates into the quality of finish that can be achieved.

Solid workhorseBy Mr Niall Hammond on 12th October 2009A solid, well built workhorse that can sand away for hours. Fitted on the bench in my case this machine gives excellent service and for the capacity of board takes very little space.

The sanding strips are no easier or more difficult to replace than in any other drum sander used and the feed belt give solid reliable performace.

Would still gt 5 stars from me even if the price had been much higher. At a little over a grand it is invaluable.

Jack DolanBy Mr JacK Dolan on 31st July 2009Coming from a background of using belt/orbital sanders for finishing wide boards and table tops, this machine has revolutionised the way I work and saves me 6-8 hours per table.
The machine build and engineering is very good although changing sanding strips is a bit fiddly.
One piece of advice - it’s very tempting to wind down the drum to take larger cuts - DON’T!
You will burn the timber and it takes ages to get back to where you were.
Take small cuts 1/8 - ¼ turn for far better results .


IndispensableBy Mr Tony Maund on 7th March 2009This machines saves you a lot of time hand sanding, planing or scraping. I am now able to use a lot scrap/cutoff's I would normally put into the fire.

The setting up is easy and the results are first class. It would be nice if the in/out feed tables were hinged when storing the machine whilst not in use.
