Taken from the test report by Terry Porter in Woodturning No. 123 by GMC Publications.Hamlet has recently added four rolled edge skew chisels with radiused cutting edge to their range of turning tools. I tried two of them, the 19mm (3/4) and the 25mm (1), which both came with 225mm (10) beech handles. As with all the Hamlet tools I have tried, they are buitifully made and finished, with blades made from Sheffield high-speed steel. Now, there is a place for different models of skew chisel in the turners workshop, but I particularly like the rolled-edge tools. They are easy to roll when you are cutting beads and the like, and do not cause small indentations on the toolrest as square-edged skews can. Personally, I prefer them to the oval skews. The radiused cutting edge works well, is particularly good when dimensioning a cylinder, and is generally easier to use than a straight-ground skew. These are really good high-quality tools, which are fairly priced
