Sorby Hardwood Scraper

Robert Sorby have introduced a scraper that breaks all the rules. The Hardwood Scraper has a rounded and a clearance angle down from the edge the same as a Round Nose Scraper.

The difference in appearance is it has a negative rake angle on the top. This is to stop the wood raising up and tearing the grain.

The tool is used in a different way to a normal scraper, the handle is held down with the heel rubbing and then, by raising the handle until the edge comes into play the tool works in the same way as a gouge. The edge scrapes the surface of the wood while the bevel rubs behind it giving a perfect finish every time.
