For sharpening bowl, spindle and fingernail turning gouges and most carving gouges up to 1" wide and, in its latest form, multi-tip scraper blades with mounting holes from 5mm to 8mm diameter. The benefits re-grinding a gouge to the fingernail form are two-fold: firstly, the risk of digging in is greatly reduced and, secondly, the increased length of edge of the fingernail shape makes the gouge far more versatile and controllable. The SVD-185 not only allows the grinding of an even, symmetrical shape but allows different lengths of side edges to be produced all with the same bevel angle. Each jig comes with a set of labels so that you can record the jig settings for each gouge for future reference.

For knives with different pin hole centres, extra holes can be drilled to match. The jig is not suitable for knives without safety pin holes.

Simple to operate jigs for sharpening knives of various lengths. The opening of the clamp can be adjusted to suit different thicknesses of blade and the handle is used to finely adjust the grinding angle. Once one side has been sharpened the jig can be flipped over to produce the same angle on the other side. The SVM-45 takes small knives down to a minimum of 70mm and the SVM-140, which has a longer clamping capacity, takes knives either with longer blades (over 120mm) or very thin blades (such as filleting knives). Exact replication on woodturning fingernail gouges and oval skews
Fingernail gouges and skews with a curved edge are difficult to sharpen with precision due to the complicated geometries. Both the shape and edge angle must be repeated exactly.

This latest development from TORMEK, the Turning Tool Setter TTS-100 solves this problem and makes the sharpening an easy task. It enables you to exactly replicate the edge on bowl or spindle gouges as well as flat or oval skews with either a straight or a curved edge.
Thanks to the exact settings at each sharpening – you can just touch up the edge and the work is done in seconds. You do not shape but sharpen the tool.

The Setter works with the TORMEK jigs SVD-185 for gouges and the SVS-50 for skews. The built in settings give you pre-determined edge geometries, which are recommended by experienced turners around the world. You do not need to worry about whether you have the right shape.
Another benefit of the design is that it works irrespectively of the stone diameter. You always get exactly the same edge angle – even when you switch from a worn stone to a new larger one. The Turning Tool Setter works as well when setting the edge angle on the leather honing wheel.

This is a very comprehensive jig which can be used equally well for turning and carving tools. There are two holders provided, one for turners' skew chisels, either oval or square section, from 13mm to 35mm wide, and the other for carvers' skew chisels, parting tools, roughing gouges and wide carving gouges up to 50mm wide. The jig is clamped to the tool and the angle is set by re-positioning the universal support in the horizontal base.
